Window

Window is the first full-length release from artist Alexis Penney, written and recorded in collabora-tion with singer-songwriter Jamie Crewe (of Poisonous Relationship) and Nick Weiss (of Teengirl Fantasy) between 2011 and 2013, in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York.

Sung in Penney’s singular, soulful croon, Window contains pop melodies cast in a timeless sound that transcend genre by nodding equally to house, new wave and disco,  At the intersection of dis-parate scenes and lives - between a long-term relationship and solitude; sadness and pride - Window is at once a framed portrait of the artist and a mirror that invites the listener to contemplate their own emotional life.

"On Garden of Problems: Remixes, Ecstasy revisits Poisonous Relationship’s effervescent Garden of Problems LP with six hard hitting floor-ready club mixes. Chicago Smart Bar resident The Black Madonna and Danish producer John Moorlag deliver driving house interpretations of ‘Men’s Feelings’, adding frosted vocal layers and Baleric buoyancy respectively. Next, Fade to Mind’s MikeQ and Massacooramaan tackle ‘Nite Birds’, twisting the original’s chopped vocals and purring organs into stark, futuristic shapes. Mysterious 90s garage house revivalist and Seven Music label boss montel then puts his classic spin on the same track, polishing the vocal and adding a pounding kick drum and stirring fifths. Finally, Poisonous Relationship offer a vocal dub of album closer ‘Endless Pleasure’, whirling the track’s smouldering harmonies into a percussive flurry of gasps and coos."
